Understanding Auction Types: Why It Matters

Before participating in an auction, it's important to know what type of sale is being organized, as the rules and regulations that apply can differ significantly. Each auction type has its own set of conditions that affect key aspects like consumer rights, warranties, and return policies.

As a buyer, whether you're a private individual or a business, you must carefully review the auction type to understand what rights you have. For example, consumer protections like warranties or returns may not apply in certain auctions. By knowing the auction type, you can make an informed decision and ensure that you're comfortable with the terms before placing a bid.

The following sections explain the different types of auctions we offer, so you can be clear on the rules and know what to expect in each case.

C2B-C (Consumer to Business and Consumer):

In this auction, the item is sold by a private individual. It is available for both private buyers and businesses.

  • Important Note: Since the seller is not a business, consumer rights such as warranties or returns do not apply to this auction. The item is sold "as-is," so make sure to carefully review the listing before bidding.

B2B-C (Business to Consumer and Business):

In a B2B-C auction, the items are sold by a professional seller and are open to both private individuals and businesses.

  • Consumer Rights: In this type of auction, private buyers (consumers) do have consumer protections like warranties and return policies, as per the general conditions of the auction. Professional buyers will not have these consumer rights.

B2B (Business to Business):

This type of auction is for items sold by professional sellers and is mainly intended for professional buyers (businesses). However, private individuals are also allowed to bid.

  • Important Note: If you're a private individual bidding in a B2B auction, consumer rights such as warranties or return policies do not apply. The sale is treated as a business transaction, and the item is sold "as-is."

Judicial Auction:

This auction involves items that are being sold due to legal reasons, such as a seizure or bankruptcy. These items are typically sold under a court order.

  • Important Note: Because these items are part of a judicial process, consumer rights like warranties and returns do not apply. Items are sold in their current condition, often without guarantees or the possibility to return them.
