Why can't I place a bid on a certain lot?

Modified on Sun, 24 Nov, 2024 at 9:38 AM

There are a few reasons why you might not be able to place a bid on a lot. Check if either of the following situations apply:

  • You are not logged in
  • You are trying to participate in a warranty auction without the correct access
  • You are trying to place a bid on lot in an auction that has not yet started
  • You are trying to place a bid on a lot that has already closed
  • You are already the highest bidder on this particular lot
  • Another bidder placed a bid just before you did.
  • Your account has been blocked

You are not logged in

Verify that you are successfully logged in. If you can see 'SIGN IN | REGISTER' at the top, you are not logged in.

You are trying to participate in a warranty auction without the correct access

Some of our auctions require bidders to pay a deposit. for more information about our warranty auctions, click here.

You are trying to place a bid on lot in an auction that has not yet started

Verify that the auction start date has already passed. Lots that are 'open' typically display a timer when the bidding closes.

Example:

You are trying to place a bid on a lot that has already closed

In some cases, an auction may still be active, but specific lots within that auction may have already closed. For larger auctions with many lots, the closing process can take over an hour, allowing bidders enough time to manage and place bids on multiple lots.

You are already the highest bidder on this particular lot

While it is possible to outbid yourself, we do issue a warning as this is usually not intentional.

Another bidder placed a bid just before you did.

This can happen if another bidder submits their bid a few seconds before you. In competitive auctions, bids can come in rapidly, especially towards the end. If this occurs, you’ll need to place a higher bid to stay in the auction.

Your account has been blocked

In certain cases, an account may be blocked from placing bids. This typically happens if there are unpaid invoices that are overdue or if we detect fraudulent activity. If your account is blocked and you’re unsure why, please contact our support team for assistance.
