What is a 'viewing' or lot inspection?

Modified on Sun, 24 Nov, 2024 at 9:40 AM

A viewing or lot inspection is an opportunity for buyers to physically examine an item before placing a bid. It allows you to check the condition and quality of the item. During the inspection, you can test electronics by plugging them in to ensure they function correctly. For items like engines or machinery, you can turn them on to verify they operate as expected.

The auction and lot details mention the location of the goods. In rare cases there are multiple locations within the same auction. Always double check the location mentioned on the individual lot page.

In most cases, personnel are on site to provide extra information about the goods on sale, answer any questions, and assist with the inspection process. This hands-on evaluation helps you make an informed decision and increases your confidence in your bid.

Lot inspections are always free to attend, but in rare cases, there may be a registration procedure required to ensure smooth operations. Additionally, for safety reasons, it is important to wear safety equipment during the inspection of certain items, especially those that involve heavy machinery or potentially hazardous conditions. Any requirements will be mentioned on the auction- and/or lot page.
